A special meeting of the -Japanese ( abinct approved the decisions of the •Japanese attitude in the talks with British representatives regarding 1 ientsin. It is understood 1 hey adhere to the demands tiiat Britain must abandon support of Marshal ( hiang Kai-shek and co-operate with •Japan politically and economically by recognising the "new order/' The Japanese Army rejected the British protest against wire-barricading ot three factories at Shanghai on July 10. The barricades will not be removed until a satisfactory reply is received to Japan's November Note of protest against their conduct.
The Japanese Domei news agencv reports that the municipality at Kuliiiil'su. largely as the result of British opposition, refused the Japanese demand' to appoint a Japanese police chief and policemen within the International Settlement.
The Independent C'alde Service quotes the "Daily Express'' Hongkong correspondent as saying that the biggest lie of the war is told in Hankow by a Jap-anese-owned newspaper, in which it is asserted that Britain handed over Hongkong to the Japanese amid tumultuous Chinese rejoicing.
A torrent of anti-British propaganda is sweeping South China in the Jap-anese-controlled Tress. It is variously asserted that the Chinese are fleeing from Hongkong because of the British brutality, and that the British are poisoning the Hongkong reservoirs.

An American, intending to hire a taxi to take him into the British concession, tound the Chinese driver seated at the wheel in underwear.
