When the report r.f the Auckland Prcr-hytery was referred tn Sir Ernest Davis tu day, he said lie had no cominent to ofTer. apart from the fact that he had sent the following telegram to the Prime Minister, the Kt. Hon. M. J. Savage:— "I respect fully draw your attention to the reference at la-t night's meeting of the Auckland Presbytery regarding the appointment of the next Governor(.eneral. I take the gravest exception to insinuations therein—ridiculous, fantastic and grotesque as the canard is— and would appreciate the protection of an official statement in refutation."'
