ARCHBISHOP'S DEATH.
SCHOLAR AND ADMINISTRATOR
(Received 12 noon.) MELBOURNE, this day. The death has occurred, in the East Melbourne Hospital, of the Most Rev. Andrew Killian, D.D., Roman Catholic Archbishop of Adelaide, at the age of (>9. He had been ill for only a "short time. Dr. Killian was consecrated Bishop of Port Augusta on June 15, 1924, while he was appointed Titular Archbishop of Ratiora and Co-adjutor Archbishop of Adelaide, with right of succession, bv Papal Brief dated July 11, 1933. H e succeeded to the Archbishopric of Adelaide on November 5. 1934. The Archdiocese had a total Catholic population of approximately 52,339 served by 109 churches. Dr. Killian was a distinguished scholar, an able preacher and a wise administrator. He was one of the Australian representatives to attend the centennial celebrations, held in Auckland last year.
