STONEHAVEN'S PROGRESS.
NOT OVERTAXED. . ROUND ABOUT ELLERSLig. Although Stonehaven has not been motaxed since the autumn, he is thriving exceptionally well on the work W. Km is allotting him. Like others of the same family, this two-year-old has been grrnr. injr very fast, and for that reason he only been required to race once. The experience will prove useful to Stonehaven when he begins racing again next season. Jn conformation this colt has made marked improvement, having jg, veloped noticeably since the autumn, but owing to his size it is not intended to hurry his preparation. TO CONTEST SPRINT EVENTS. Having his first race since February Sporting Gift drew attention to his fatai« prospects when he ran third in the pua Handicap at Otaki last week-ead. This gelding has been a consistent perl former this season, winning on five occasions, and now that he is back to form he should be worth following. Sporta-. Gift will contest sprint events at Trentham. BACK FROM A SPELL. Glen Abb. who has been out of action since April, is being hacked about and will resume wc.rk again shortly. He is a bit in the ••rough" at present and will need .a fair amount of work before he is ready to luce. BROTHER TO SCOTLAND. During the last lew months Oltaa hag not been required to do any strenuous work and lie will not 1 ace again until next spring. This brother to Scotland won a minor event at the Te Aroha meeting last February, but did little racing subsequently. He has grown into a solid-looking gelding, also beans a strong resemblance to his relative, and if he proves to be as good lie will not be hard to place. BRED THE RIGHT WAY. The novice by Irish Lancer from Flying Mist. under M. O'Connor's care at KUeislic. will race as Morning Mist. She is a low-set filly and a very robust sort whose breeding suggests that she mar eventually make good. Her dam F]yin» Mist is by Martian from Triehas, the last-named being a sister to Caress, who produced that good mare Cuddle. FROM A GOOD FAMILY. The filly by Vaals from Green Bonnet is making good headway under W. Kirk's supervision and has improved a good deal during the last month- This fillv comes trom a proved family, her grandam Kakama, being a daughter of Soult from winsome, by Cuirassier from Winnie, produced a number of high-class performers. TRIP ABROAD. Mr. P. E Brenan a steward of the Ohineniuri Jockey ( lub. member of the Auckland District Committee and a delegate to the Xew Zealand Racing Conference, intends to Jeav e for a trip to Java next month.
