BOXING.

FOSTER BEATS DAVIS. (By Telegraph.—Press Association.) GISBORNE, Wednesday. The Canadian Johnny Foster beat .Tack Davis ((ii.aboi lie) on points in a welterweight boxing contest of 10 rounds. Foster shaded his opponent in the majority of rounds and narrowly missed a knock-out in the seventh round. Davis made a remarkable recovery and was carrying the fight to the Canadian when the bout concluded. Foster seemed hesitant when a quick victory seemed within his roach- The fight was witnessed by the largest crowd for two seasons.
