IN THE FINAL. By beating Thistle pointless at Blandlorn Park ou Saturday, louug Jklell passed in.,, .he local nnal lor the Chatham Cup Kiio t ..-jUts and also moved to top rung or tne senior championsliip ladder with the two goals to nil victory. From a spectator s point of view the game was more of the cup-tie type than a display between leaders ill the senior division. Most of the liner points or the game were lacking, and for a knock-out match the pace was much slower than usual. There were occasion.il exciiui a - rallies and several melees and unx-ups in rile goalmouth which rai.-cd a uin.i. PONSONBY DOWNS METRO. When ihey met Mitro-Collcgc at S.'cstern .springs u daiuru..y, the m-„m and •-•xperici.ee oi tne fousoiiu.. iirst u.vision players, paiiiculany m the ;,. coiid spcii, proveu too much lor die t.u.d g.aue m.eruiediaie -Uetro-Lc-uege team, an of whom were under 21 ycais oi age. For the main part ot the game tne tentorial advantages were equally div.Ucd. cui ine Ponsonby defence proved too strong ag.uust the raids ot the younger team. twn.cn, in Ponsonby goal, was always sound ana cleared lo uuvantaage. Haggett, at ii B .u-uuck ior Pousonov, was exicriciit on ueieuvo, and Cleal, at centre-half, was the soundest man in the middle line. In lies, at outside-right, played his usual sound game, while Flyger, who was surer than ever, was an impressive player in the front line.

In the -Metro citadel, R. Gordon made some excellent saves and was unlucky with most of the shots that got past him. He was tested time and again, and in most cases, chared cleanly. A. Turner, ac centrehalt, and K. Hannam, at outsiue-ief t were also prominent. The final score of five to nil in favour of Ponson.by was scarcely a fair indication of the run of play.

HIGH SCORING GAME. Abels easily accounted for Onehunga in their match at the Domain, despite the lact that they fielded only ten men For the winners, Waters played a wonderful g:iim. in his dual role of ecu! re-half and leit full-back. His positional plav. sound defence, and ability to leed Ins wings led to three of Abels' goals. C Ekiiian, a! right back, played beiier than usual, wlnle Cameron was as sound as ever. In the forwards. Frauer played an excellent game, his goal being a gem He was unfortunate to be injured early, but gamely carried on. E. Eknian again plaved headily, but was at times beaten by "the opposing half. Phillips was the pick of Onehuuga's team at centre-forward, and he deserved his three goals. He was well assisted by Right-winger Brass, who, although small, is very tricky anu often made good runs. In their new goalie, James, Onehunga have a good man, but he was inclined to rush out and interfere with his full-backs, both of whose defence was very sound. FOUR GOALS TO WELCH.

The outstanding feature of the game North Shore—Suburbs was the target work of Ray Welch, who scored tour goals for Suburbs to give his side the victory. Cuminings was also prominent in the firing line with good centres, with lurner the best of the defence and Cowie busy in goal against the lively Shore forwards, tord, of the Endeavour, was disappointing in goal for Shore, and the defence was further weakened bv an earlv injury to West. Stevenson secured a brace of goals for Shore and was well supported by Haydon and Sime. ™ ™

j GREY LYNN HOLDS COMRADES. i It was a surprise when Grey Lrni held Comrades to a draw at Victoria Park in a rigged game. Conrades having most of the territorial advantage, hut nullifying it bv poor positional play. The Grev Lynn front line was sound, its scores coming from breakaways, i Howmer G. Grice and Callaghau stored , for Grey Lynn while M. Francis (2> and Matthews netted for Comrades. P NAVY GO DOWN. Eight goals to two was the scare put up by Mount Albert Grammar Old Boys against a team from H.M.S. Achilles at towlds Park. The game was interestine with a clever display of combination by Mount Albert. Scores for the Old Boys were R. Cole (3), Needham (2), Patterson (2), Fyvie. Achilles' scorers were Bryant and Brown.
