SAILORS' HOME.

ANNUAL MEETING HELD. ELECTION OF OFFICERS. The fact that the interest* of Auckland and New Zealand are closely interwoven with maritime matters was pointed out by the Hon. C. J. Carrington, M.L.C., when he presided at the annual meeting of the Auckland Sailors' Home. The 04th annual report wae presented and adopted, the chairman pointing out that the home was thoroughly established, but more financial assistance was needed. A letter wae read from Captain R. S. Lewie, in Which he expressed the opinion that the business community did not appear to fully recognise the value of the institution. The following officers were elected:— President, the Hon. C. J. Carringtun, M.L.C.; vice-president, Captain R. S. Lewie; council, the Hon. J. Trevethick, M.L.C., Messrs. E. H. Potter, O. W. Sanders, D. B. Patterson, W. M. .Tackton, V. E. Sutherland and E. Anderson.
