QUESTION OF AWARD
CONFERENCE ARRANGED
At the annual conference of the N'cnv Zealand Drivers' Federation last February the suggestion of the Motor Omnibus Proprietors' Association of NewZealand that a conference should be held between the representatives of both parties for the purpose of discussing clauses in the present award with a view to their alteration was approved. The secretary of the Auckland Drivers' I'nion, Mr. L (J. Matthews, stated this morning that he had now received advice that the proposed conference would lie held in Wellington on .lulv i;. u hen there would be present four rctne-cii ia - tiles of the employers and a similar number of employee-,' delegates. It was the hope .if the union that some good would come of the conference and that, it Nvoiihl obviate the need for ler'ctrTng matters in dispute to the Arbitration Court. This method of settling differences was preferable from the union point of view to going to the Arbitration Court, as they had practical men in the industry dealing with matters in dispute.
