Wendy wites of Sunshine

Dear Sunbeams— Lgh! how cold it is! Piitor patter, pitter palter fall the rain drops on the pavements outside. It has I von all afternoon and the who!*; world seems bleak and rain drenched. A little while ago we had a hailstorm. Hig round hailstones pelted down into Shortland Street and from the windows of the Peter Pan tillifc 1 ink. and I watched as luckless folk dashed wildly in all directions fcr shelter. Oh! Sunbeams, how pleased and excited I was to see such lovely little gifts arriving for our wee friend Paul. I mk., who had been quite enchanted by this solemn little boy, was greatly thrilled, and she hustled round folding little woolly garments into a big box. We sent two cosy quilts for his stretcher, and one had a • hqued upon it a large yellow Donald Duck. How Paul chuckled when he saw this funny yellow duck. It i the nnc bright thing in his tiny drab room. For Baby Peggy there was a pink "hottic," a dear little fluffy blanket and some little knitted garments. Oh! such a lovely box of gifts left Sunshine House to help bring warmth and joy to this sad little home. Just imagine, here wc are in June —the middle month of the year. Quite soon now we will have the -hoilest day. How many of you made New Year resolutions on New Year's Day, and—oh! dear—how m.inv of them have long ago been quite forgotten? Take one little hasty look back before you turn the corner ol the year, so to speak, and then look ahead to the next six months. Perhaps, alas, those good resolutions have all been broken. ITiey are hard to "keep," aren't they? Never mind—make a wee new resolution as you turn that corner—a real "Sunbeam's resolution"—to help just one person who may be poor or sick or unhappy during the last half of 1939. . ' Shall we. Sunbeams? Shall we all make this our June resolution? •€ <■ Love to you all from— 53^^^^
