SEASON'S FIRST SHIPMENT.
(From Our Own Correspondent.) MONTREAL, May 23. The season's first shipment of New, Zealand apples lias reached Montreal via. Halifax, where they arrived l>y the Opawa. There were 30.0(H) cases, of which rases, in six railway car lot-, have reached Montreal. According to Mr. F. E. Hollowav. of Mutual Brokers, the shipment ha« been pa i t ii-iila rly sought after because tliere wa - a shortage of apples in Canada this ~l>iin.ir. and these apples are the only Empire apples 011 the Canadian market just now. A second shipment of 30,000 cases is i<>ll the way to Halifax from Xew Zealand by the Mahana.
