ELLERSLIE BRANCH FORMED. A well attended public meeting, convened hv hi* Worship the Mayor, Mr. H. .T. White. decidcd upon the formation of a ihrancli of the Red Cross Society in Ellerslie. • Mr. Tra J. Bridger, directorgeneral for New Zealand, stressed the need for organisation through which people can lie trained for emergencies, and referred to the international significance and strength of Red Cross, and its practical experience in all parte of the world in connection with ware or disasters. The Mayor was elected president, and Mr. Carr acting-secretary. A further meeting i* to he held to enlarge the committee, and invite all kindred organisations to appoint representatives on the executive committee.
