STABLE AND TRACK NOTES.
IN GREAT ORDER. Since racing at the Grent Northern meeting Valmint's tasks have been confined to useful pace work, and it is doubtful if the chestnut gelding ever looked better. His form at the recent meeting at. Kllerslie was of a high standard,-and VV. Fergus looks certain to win more money with the son of Vanls and Lomint. Valmint will probably make his next appearance in the Woodstock Stakes at the Waipa meeting, with a, trip to Tt entham for the Wellington winter meeting to follow.
RACING IMPROVED HER. Alyth looks all the better for her two races at the Auckland meeting, and has been Working in improved style since. She is engaged in the open sprint event at Tauranga, but it' is not yet certain whether she will fulfil the engagement. This mare also figure* in the Paternngi Handicap, to be run over seven furlongs at tho Waipa meeting next Saturday week.
NOVICE CANDIDATES. VaJvern, an acceptor in the Novice Handicap at the- Bay of Plenty meeting, has only started three timet* and m a likely improver. On several occasions Valvern ha* registered fast times on the track, and if ho reproduces the mime speed at Tauranga he will keep the opposition busy.
HIS TURN IS DUE. When Vaalsstar ran third to Eka Pai and Bronze JVlrfth in the Ranftirly Handicap at Ellerslie last week his finishing effort pointed to him being an early winner. His turn may come at Tauranga, where the three-year-old son of Vaals will contest the Stewards' Handicp. A. Stanton, who rode Vaalsstar at Ellerslie, will have tho mount on thij» hack next Saturday.
HURDLER'S PROGRAMME. Silver Sight returned to Riccarton after his racing at Wnnganui, and he may not now be produced again till the C.J.C. Grand National meeting in August (says a Christchurch writer). All going well, his stable mate, Bonnie Bollox, is likely to be sent up to tho Wellington meeting.
TE ORE MAKES GOOD. To Ore, wfio won the maiden event at Hustings lust Saturday, is a four-year-old brown Hlly l>y Lord Qiiex from the Mountain Knight—Native Lady mare Native Queen (ii half-sister to Hymestrason), hence she in a Inilt'-siwter to Kohtka, who showed dome promise. She is being raced on lease from her breeder, Mr. A. M. Henderson, by Mr. B. J. Kelleher, of Masterton, and an, she has had only four starts she looks to have a good future.
A RICCARTON PAIR. Wnku, a useful staying hack with one win and five minor placing* to his credit this season, litis progressed favourably since A. .1, Martin started him off on another preparation, says a Riceurton w'ii . Waku appreciates easy going and .i be in splendid order for winter ruling. *he same stable, look* imJ"™?'™ Kingsdown Hack T ™ ent] y- first timrh" goes to "X" " ,ont^8 Thc next *«n be cupped ' ,n » rov «»
