POWER SUPPLY.
SOUTH ISLAND FEARS.
DIFFICULT YEAR ANTICIPATED.
(By Telegraph.—Own Correspondent.) WELLINGTON, Wednesday. Fears of an electric power shortage in the South Island next year were discussed with the Minister of Public Works, the Hon. Tt. Semple, by a deputation representing all the electric supply authorities in Canterbury, £)tago and West Coast. "We admit it is going to be difficult, but we don't anticipate the degree of shortage pictured by the deputation," said the Minister after the conference. "We will get through, and we don't see the danger they apprehend. There is none this year, though next year it may be difficult to get through. Following that, new developments which are in hand will be completed." Information regarding future works was , given by Mr. F. T. M. Kissel, chief electrical elgineer. These include two additional 25,000-kilowatt generators j ordered for the new power station at ! Rangitata, and two more 15,000-kilo- : watt generators for installation at the [ existing Waitaki station, to be delivered ! next October.
