There was a fair sprinkling of snow in the borough and one and a half to two inches at Metta-I I ven. where it was rapidly thawing to-day. There were exceptionally heavy winds, one or two telephone, also power lines, being damaged. The weather is in great contrast to the conditions of a week or two ago, when north-westerlies prevailed. Borough temperatures were: May 15, 74 degrees: May 24. 71; June 5. G2.5; •Tune 9, 05. There were eleven degrees of frost yesterday. Rain squalls continued to-day.

Pipiriki. Kaetilii and Himtcrvillc, and the hills are covered with a whit" mantle. Considerable talks al-o occurred at Turakina. Okoia and other place*, with a further fall at the Chateau. Skiing beini enjoyed today.

SNOW IN DUNEDIN.

DI'XEDIX, Mundav. ! Heavy vain and sleet, with occasional li"ht falls of snow, were exj>crienced in Dunedin to-day. The weather was bitterly cold, the maximum temperature being only 44 degrees. Th<j wind rose to pale force in the evening, but no da mace has been reported. Snow was reported at Mi id!ema:ch and Queenstown, but in neither case was the fall heavv.

SNOW AT TAIHAPE.

(By Telegraph.—Own Correspondent.) I TAIHAPE, this day. The first fall of snow of the seaeon occurred last night. The fall did not reach the township, but the hills surrounding: the town and higher points i were well covered. No dislocation of the telephone service or rail traffic occurred, I although snow is still falling heavily in the vicinity of Waiouru.
