After lengthy discussion in an endeavour to reach a common basie of collective, barjraininji in widely differing northern ami southern claims in the Cold Minos Federation employees' dispute ii.i agreement was effected and the parties decided to adjourn to a date to lie fixed later. An indication had been jriven by the Court of Arbitration that it preferred the parties to reai-h a nonunion award ratlier than separate awant for the north an.! south, and the <li.~>-u~-ions between the part if* centred round the pri-~i!ii]itii'< of aeinevintr tlii<. Bidiop. empli>yei>" ajrei.t. presented a new sehe<lule covering both the northern and Westland district* compiled from the respective claims and dealing only with miners' conditions and wanes, not touching on the engineer.*' or carpenter*' sect ion. Mr. .T. Roberts, tor the workers, said that the schedule was not what they had expected in certain directions, and there were things in it which they could ! not accept. j After further dw.ussion the parties i ngreed to adjourn to a date t<i be tixed later.
