This was one of the places that would not be able to obtain the supplies it needed. NORTH ISLAND CENTRES. (By Telegraph.—Press Association.) CHRISTCHURCH. Thursday. Milk would not be as plentiful as usual Ihis winter in several Xorth fsland centres, said the Director of Internal Marketing. Mr. F. R. Picot, in Christehurch to-day. For several reasons, chiefly on account of the dry season, many more cowv than iwual had gone out of production. Unfortunately it was a position that could not be averted. WELLINGTON POSITION. (By Telegraph.—Press Association.) WELLIXGTOX*, Thursday. "We do not expect any shortage of milk for household purposes this winter, but we are a little anxious about the supply for schools," said Mr. L. McKenzie. chairman of the Wellington City Council Milk Committee, to-night, when Mr. Picot's statement was referred to him. Mr. MeKenzie said the recent wet weather had eased the position : n Wellington to some extent.
