I A lecture on "The Life of To Ttauparaha," against a background of early New Zealand and ancient Maori customs, will l)c the subject of a public address to bo given in the Museum Library to-morrow afternoon at 3 p.m. by Mr. M. ('». Lee, M.A. * A selection of lantern slides will be used to Illustrate the lecture, which will deal with the life of the famous fighter from his early day*, when the dihection of his leadership was toward averting from his people the dangers caused by i the intrusion of European influences into the old balance of power of the Maori. It will follow up his amazing ■ career through his many conquests up
to his death. How the ageing and puzzled chieftain adjusted liis hitherto unehallenged domination to the changing environment produced by the advent of white settlers is a story that throws interesting light on ancient Maori diplomacy and life.
