Large Crowds At Ellerslie To-day.
All the extravagances of the new season's fashions, large checked coats, fly-away hat*, spotted veils niul coloured accessories, wcro to be seen at Ellerslie to-day, when the Auckland Racing Club held the first dny of the winter carnival.
• Bright winter sunshine and a cloudlens sky gave perfect scopo for a fashion parade of the latest models, many of which followed the customary smart tailoring that is a feature of this year's winter ensembles. Tweed suits were popular, while woollen ensembles, in a large variety of the gay new shades, were also favourites. Among those present were: — Mrs. H. M.
