DEVONPORT PROGRESS.

At a special meeting of the Devonport Council last evening, the estimates prepared by the borough engineer, Mr. A. T. Griffiths, were considered, and an allocation made for the year's programme of public works.

The principal items approved were £1195 for the construction of a parking area connecting Clarence Street, Bartley Terrace and Fleet Street; £770 for the extension of the sea wall on Cheltenham Beach between the Balmain Reserve and Cheltenham Road; £245 for the storm water drainage of Garden Terrace; £1600 for reserves, parks and beaches; £2000 for carriageway maintenance; £1200 for sewer drainage and maintenance; £2075 for general streets work. In addition a sum of approximatejy £2000 wae allocated for tarring and sanding footpaths. A series of email items made up the total public works allocation of £13,445. <
