CIRCULAR TO BANKS.
N.Z. MONET IN SCOTLAND. (By Teleprnph.—Own Correspondent.) ELLIXtJ TOX. this day. The following circular which has been MMit to all Scottish banks was to a Xew Zealand resident who has just arrived in Edinburgh: — "We are advised by the Rank of Xew Zealand that the obligation* of the Reserve Rank of Xew Zealand to sell sterling in exchange for its note« is withdrawn. Xew Zealand notes can no longer l»e sold to or collected through the Xew Zealand banks and. as it may 1* difficult to dispose of them otherwise —even at 14/ to V,/ Xew Zealand—any Xew Zealand note* presented should be accepted for sale only on the understanding that London office will dispose of them if they are able to find a buyer." The person who was shown the circular, adds the "Dominion," said that ill .Southampton an acquaintance of his was able to obtain only £1 in English money in exchange for £2 10/ in Xew Zealand notes.
