LEMONS SELL SLOWLY.
CHOICE APPLES IN DEMAND
LOWER EGG PRICES. There was a good demand for choice lines of dessert apples at the City Markets to-day. hut poor grades had no wile. Choice cookers were also in good request. Although there was a good inquiry for Cole pears, Keiffers were not sought. Values lor hothouse grapes were easier and the market dull. Local tomatoes also eased in price, especially poor grades, while tree tomatoes and lemons were slow of wile. There was a fair demand for choice passion fruit, many of which were poor iiv quality and green. There was a dull sale for persimmons and a fair demand for mushrooms. Prices ranged as follows: —Apples: Delicious. 5/6 to 8/ per case; Ballarat, 5/6 to 6/6: Granny Smith, 6/ to 8 ; Jonathan, 6/ to 8/6; Rome Beauty. 8/ to 10, ; Stunner, 7/6 to !)/; Winesap. 7/ to 10/. Pears: Pa-ekhams, 6/ to 6/6 per case: Keiffers, 5/6 to 6/6: Winter Coles. 0/ to 11/. Tomatoes: Outdoor, extra choice. 8/ to 9/6 per case; others, 3/ to B/; Hntt, 4/ to "/. Tree tomatoes: Xew black, .V to 6, 6 per case: yellow, 4/ to 6/. Oranges: California!!. 34/ to 35/ per case- Bananas: Ripe. No. 2, 14/ to 17/ per case: medium, 20/ to 23,6. Pines: Queensland, 23/ to 30/ per case. Grapes: Hothouse—Coleman, extra choice, 2/ to 2/3 per lb; others. I'l to 1,8. Cape gooseberries: 4d to 3d per lb. Passion fruit: 6'' to 11/ per case. Cuavas: 3 6 to .">/ per case. Persimmons: 3/ to 4/ per case. Vegetables. Cabbage? were ill very heavy supply, with juices a little lower than last week. and cauliHowfts also came forward in good quantities, realising good prices. Pumpkins were in heavy supply, with prices a little lower than last week. Beans were ottered in -good quantities, choice stringless realising very high rates. Kuniaias were in good supply and juices fair. Potatoes were also in good supply, Ohakune Suttons realising high prices. Onion juices were about the same as last week. Swedes were in over-siijqdy, selling at low rates, but Jieas were short, best quality realising very high juices. Celery was in heavy supply, best quality making good juices. —

Poultry. At to-day's auctions the supply of poultiy was medium and the d-Tinrnd v:.\* keen for all table birds. The p- -ices pai.l remained the same all round. Selling rates were as follow: — Cockerels, heavy breeds, prime. .V to 7/ each: not prime, 2 6 to 36: liirht breeds, prime, 3/6 to 5, : not prime. 2/ to 3/; fat roosters, heavy breeds, prime. 3/ to 4/; light breeds. 2/ to 3/: hens, heavy breeds, 3/ to 4/; light breeds. 2/6 to 3.3: laying hens, heavy breeds, 4' to 3/; light breeds. 3/6 to 4/; pullets, heavy breeds, best. 5/6 to 6/6: smaller, 2/ up: light breeds, 'be'.t, 5/ to 6/; smaller. 2/ up; drakes, young, prime. 3/ to 4/; smaller. 2' up; drakes, old, 2/6 to 3'; duck*, young. 4' to 6': old. 2/6 to 3/: geese. 4/ to a : turkey hens, 7/ to 8/; gobblers, 10/ to 15/.
