NORTHCOTE RATES.
SLIGHT RISE PROPOSED
All increase of one-third of a penny in the £ in the total rates is proposed by the Xorthcote Borough Council for the ensuing financial year. This ha* been rendered necessary to meet the annual interest and sinking fund chaiges on the recent waterworks loan of £4000 to construct a new 250.000gallon reservoir and provide other improvements. The total rates of 1/1.30 include* Id for water.. 3|d for interest in the special drainage area, and a consolidated rate of 9.05 d over the whole borough. The latter comprise* 4.33 d for interest chaiges on loans, producing £3452. and 4.72 d for general purposes, yielding £3!»50. The total estimated expenditure of £2»> ; 804 provides for a deficit of £170.
