GOOD FIELDS LIKELY.
RIOTOUS TO COMPETE.
IDDO SCHOOLING WELL
(From Our Own Correepondent.) WANGANUI, Tuesday. Judging from the number of horse* for which accommodation has been booked, the acceptances for the first day of the Wanganui Jockey Club's winter meeting on June 3, should be very satisfactory. It appear* certain, too. that the jumping events will 1h» contested by good fields. It i« pleasing to know that Kiotous will be on hand to contest the steeplechase events once again. The Birkdale gelding ha* already won the Wanganui Steeplechaee twice and on hi« form at'Te Rapa he promisee to make another bold bid this season. Although Iddo was taken to Awapuni he was not started there. However, the Tractor gelding will fulfil his Wanganui engagements and from all account* he i« likely to run prominently as he has been schooling well. Homily and Rehearsal had one race each at Awapnni, the latter winning on Friday, but Homily failed to run into a place on the second day. Neither did any harm by their efforts; in fact Rehearsal looks all the better for his race»and should be etill further improved for the Wanganui meeting. Kntail had a hard race each day. but he came through all right and should be in good fettle for his Wanganui engagementsThis morning the conditions were favourable for training operations and the course, on which the trestles were out about 15-feet. was in good order.
Rehearsal was given a couple of rounds at good half pace. The son of Limond will be hard to beat in his Wangnnui engagements, as he is improving with each gallop. Vadanoe was not asked to do better than three-quarter pace work. The Vaals gelding looks well and the Wanganui course should unit him.
Lowenberg finished a shade in front of Middle after running three fnrlnnjra in 40*fas>. Lowenberg is sroing along nicely in his preparation and if he can be kept going this gelding should be in the money before the winter m over.
Deeert Column hit out very well over two furlongs with* Airing, leading all the way to register 25%5. The half-brother to Sanhedrim look* likely to do good service for Mr. F. Bristol if he stands up to racing.
Eurotas (J. Green) sprinted two furlongs in 255, hitting out in good srtyleWar Lap (N. Jennings) was schooled over a round of the hurdles, jumping carefully. He carried about 11.0 and had his tongue over the bit all tlie way. Later, with S. Edwards in the saddle, the Lapidary gelding sprinted three furlongs in 38a. Amigo wae restricted to half-pace work. The Beau Pere gelding is looking bright and- well on it, but m> far has not been galloped since resuming. However, he will be sent along this week-end and probably will fulfil his Wanganui engagements.
