LONDON, May 18

The Minister of Agriculture, Sir Reginald Dot man-Smith, announced in the House of Commons to-day the Government's decision to give further assistance to agriculture by the application of the principle of price insurance to sheep, bariey and oats. For oats, the cost will be £2.120.000 in respect of the 1938 crop, and the minimum liability in anv one year in future will be £4,500,000. For barlev the additional cost for the 1938 crop will be £800/100.
