FARMER FATALLY SHOT.

GUN WAS CAUGHT IN FENCE. (By Telegraph.—Press Association.) WANGANUI, Sunday. With a gunshot wound in his chest, a Rapanui farmer, Mr. David James Phillips, aged 54. was found dead by his wife in a paddock on his farm this afternoon. His body was lying beside a fence in which his gun was caught. Mr. Phillips had farmed in the Rapanui district for the last 20 years.
