THIEVES IN THE CITY.
EXPERTS TAKE £2.
Expert safe-blowers were at work in * Clty * last ni > ht - They entered the otnee of Messrs. Clark Brothers, sack ana bottle merchants, at 40. Drake street. Entrance was gained through a side window which was forced, and the thieves went to the office, where they blew open a large safe. Tt is believed that thf> iob was done by thieves highly skilled in the use of explosive*. 1,, f act , w ] K , n }i r . g. S Clark reaehpcl his office this morning he could not tell that the snfe had been tampered with. Just sufficient gelignite had been inserted into the keyhole to damage the mechanism sufficiently for the door to be opened. In the office this morning was found a piece of burned fuse wire.
The thieves got little for their trouble. Less than £2 was in the safe.
