RESCUE OFF CEYLON.
FIRE ON DANISH STEAMER. COLOMBO, May 11. The P. and 0. steamer Canton put out and rescued 35 passengers and also the crew of the Danish steamer Alsia in which a fire broke out in the engine room nine miles south of Ceylon. The Alsia is now aground off Gable Beach.
