LAMBS IN LONDON. IMPROVED CONSUMPTION. BEEF VALUES FIRMER. (Received 1 p.m.) LONDON", May 11. The Nfew Zealand Meat Producers' Board report on the Smithfield market, covering the period ended May 11, states: There is a better feeling in the lamb market and prices where changed have advanced slightly. Consumption continues good. Prices for wethers are generally easier, owing to lack of demand. Ewes are steady, but trade is quiet. Tliere is a better inquiry frozen beef, owing to higher prices of chilled, which are firmer on good trade and lighter supplies. Trade in New Zealand porker pigs is quiet with prices unchanged. Baconer pigs are steady. Quotations are:— New Zealand Sheep.—Crossbred wethers and/or maiden ewee: 49-561b, 3%d; 57-641b, 3%d; 65-721b, 3%d. New Zealand lambsOther South Island: 39421b, 6%d. North Island Downs: 361b and tinder, 6%d; 37-421b, eYfd. North Island—Firet quality: 37-421b, 6V6d. Argentine: First quality: 36b and under, 5%d; 37-421b. 5%d.
