'PROPOSAL FOR AUCKLAND.

Deferred from July of last year, since the estimate for 1938-39 had then been approved, a request by the Auckland Chamber of Commerce .that coneideratjon should be given to the erection of a public hall of the "Qlynipia" type, which could be used for indoor sports, large public meetings, exhibitions and similar events, was the subject of a finance committee recommendation at last night , a meeting of the Auckland City Council.

The committee recommended that a reply should be made that provided that other local authorities and bodies concerned in the metropolitan area expressed willingness to combine ia the project, the City Council would be prepared to investigate the suggestion fully.
