Including the labour subsidies, the council paid out the large sum of £70.053 gross wages and salaries, that is, permanent staff £11.074 lit/5, and subsidised wanes £58.078 1/1. Taking the receipt side generally, continued the report, nearly alfcthe items had exceeded the estimates. This was particularly lioticeable with the current rate receipts, and rate arrears, which amounted to £39.54, being £2348 and £1580 respectively. In addition to reviewing their work for the past year, it is understood the council will advise the ratepayers of their proposals for the current year to advance the town, and still furtlter reduce the overdrafts.
