MANUFACTURERS AFFECTED Advances in the wholesale price of sugar per ton in Auckland in recent months have been as follow: December, 10/; early April, 10/; April. 21, £1; and April 20, 10/; total rise £2 10/. The lateat change in retail prices is a rise of Id for fllb and 1/2 for a 701b bag. During the past four months the retail price has advanced by 2Jd for fill) nnd 1/7 for a 701b bag. The now prices now operating are 1/10J for 01b anrl 10/1 for 70!b, compared with 1/8 and 17/fl respectively in December. It was stated that the increases would affect not only the housewife, but also jam, jelly and confectionery manufacturers, and would have to be passed oil to the public in l,j s her prices for the products of these factories.
