CIVIC HONOURS.
MR. E J. HOWARD'S FUNERAL. MINISTERS AND M.P.'S ATTEND. (By Telegraph.—Press Association.) CHRISTCHCRCH, this day. Six Ministers of tlie Crown, as well a* members of Parliament from all over New Zealand, inarclied in tlie procession which followed Mr. E. .T. Howard, late Chairman of Committees and member of Parliament for Christchnreh South, to the grave to-day. Mr. Howard was accorded a civic funeral and thfe body lay in state at tlie Municipal Chambers during the morning, when hundreds took the opportunity to pay their last respects. At a brief civic ceremony the Mayor. Mr. R. M. MacFarlane, paid a tribute to Mr. Howard. Later a service was conducted in the Municipal Chambers by Hon. J. K. Archer, M.L.C. , The long cortege was headed by the Woolston Band. The service at the graveside included an address by the Hon. D. Sullivan, who spoke in terms of great eulogy of Mr. Howard. Other Ministers present were the Hons. Fraser. Webb, Armstrong, Semple and Lee Martin.
