A USEFUL BOOKMARK.
All "bookworms" are constantly finding that they have lost their bookmark or else have torn it to bits. Here is quite a strong bookmark, which is both simple to make and useful afterwards. Take a piece of petersham, the plain white being best, while the 1 Jin width is quite good. Allow six inches in length. Then all you need to do is to paint on it some simple floral pattern, your initials some suitable words. Bright colours are the best to use, such as yellow or red, blue being good, too. Don't make your brush too moisj, and apply the paint fairly thickly, otherwise it soaks through too much and loses its brightness. A good plan is to paint on some blotting paper, which will absorb the extra moisture. Leave it to dry well, when the (stiffness will return. A frayed edge may be obtained at the l>ottom by pulling away the cross-wise threads, while a pointed or rounded top looks quite effective. (Will the contributor of this interesting little paragraph please forward her or his name and address to Peter Pan?)
