TECHNICAL TRAINING.
AIRCRAFT ENGINEERING. I BUIT,DTXfi UP A KESERVK. (By Telegraph.—Own Correspondent.) DUXKDIX, Thursday. Workmen me nt present engagvd in the erection in South Duncdin of a large building, which is to be used ns a school of technical training in aircraft engineering. The school will bo conducted in conjunction with the Hillside railway workshops, and the object of its establishment is to build up a re.serve of trained technical personnel available for service in the .Royal New Zealand Air Force in time of war.
The Minister of Defence, the Hon. F. Jones, announced some time ago that tradesmen attending the schools of instruction would be selected primarily from apprentices at. the conclusion of their general engineering training, although entry would not necessarily be limited to this class or to railway personnel. The courses would consist of about five months' instruction in the maintenance of aircraft engines and air frames, and the instructors and equipment' Would be provided by the Air' Force. The objective was to turn out approximately , 100 young ii?en a jjear trained a3 aircraft ground engineers, for 6ervice in. time of war..
