JUNE CAMPAIGN LIKELY. —— -. i COMMERCE CHAMBER REPORT. » ' "Rat Week" will probably be held front June 12 to i»> it was reported at yesterday's meeting of the council of the Auckland Chamber of Commerce. Owing to the gravity of international affairs, the consequent disturbance of the public mind, the appeal shortly to be made in connection with recruiting. air l'aid precaution organisation and other matters of outstanding importance, the City Council now thought it ndvisable -not* to superimpose on the issues already before the public propaganda for measures to be taken for rat destruction, stated the minutes of a meeting of the chamber's executive. Local authorities were beiiig asked, nevertheless, to intensify the work of rat destruction during the coming month.
Mi'. T. Davis reported, however, that the special "R;it Week" committee was now of the opinion that in view of the gravity df the position the campaign against the vermin should not be abandoned altogether, and the week June 12-19 had been suggested.
