PURCHASES IN SYDNEY.
1000GNS FOR BEAU PERE COLT,
SYDNEY, April 14. ' At the yearling sales to-day the trainer G. Price secured the Beau Pere colt from Timid, for lOOOgns. Another trainer, J. Cook, paid 925gns for the Pantheon— Lisburn colt. • Mr. S. Murphy, Melbourne, paid 925gns for another Pantheon colt from Cabaret Girl. Seventeen Pantheon colts sold ranged from 120 to 500gns, nine of whom averaged 419gns." Wright, Stephenson and Company, New Zealand, bought" the ' Marconigram filly from Hall Mark's sister At 180gns. P. Riddle paid 450gna for the 1 colt by Marconigram from Lady Canberra. The Closing Time filly from Chrysology brought 85gns, the Limarch filly from Caramirig 1 65gns, . and "the Waikare filly from Caught, 130gns. Returns Below Last Year. This year's sales have been generally disappointing, many fine colts being passed in, while a fairly large percentage were withdrawn from sale owing to the comparatively poor prices. The decrease in the aggregate turnover compared with Inst year was in the neighbourhood of 20,000 guineas.
