Once again people are taking in the Jewish race that interest which periodic persecution has always aroused. How many representatives of it inhabit the various corners of the earth? The birth-rate seems to have mounted after their emancipation, for 50 years later the figures had risen to nearly 5,000,000. Thirty-nine years ago it was estimated at 10,000,000. America shows the greatest rise. In 1825 only 3 per 1000 resided there. When" the year 1880 opened it was 3 per 100. To-day it is estimated that three of every 10 American* are Jews.
