PROGRESS LEAGUE.
SUGGESTION FROM AUCKLAND
' MANUFACTURERS' PROPOSAL.
Believing that the organisation of a body to operate on the lines of progress leagues in other centres will remedy a defect that has been felt in Auckland for some time, the executive of the Auckland Manufacturers' Association has initiated a proposal for the formation of a bureau of that kind to press the claims of the city and province. The executive's suggestion has met much favourable comment.
Supporters of the league idea believe that such a body would do much to further industrial expansion in the province It is felt that many industries recently e<t:ilihVln><l in mhor centres could well have flourished in Auckland. Progress leagues have operated with considerable success in other parts of the Dominion.
Considerable interest will be centred in the attitude of the Auckland Chamber of Commerce to a suggestion from the Manufacturers' Association that the chamber should sponsor the formation of an organisation to represent the interests of the province without political or sectional bias.
