JEWS PROTEST.
"Unspeakable Martyrdom" la Czechoslovakia. NEW SLOVAK DECSEEB. (Received 10.30 i-O.) GENEVA, March 29. The executive of the World Jewish Congress sent telegrams to President Roosevelt and the Foreign Ministers of Britain, France and Russia, drawing attention to the "unspeakable martyrdom that Jews in Czechoslovakia are suffering since German occupation, violating international treaties guaranteeing equality of rights to all'Csech citizens." - - • A Bratislava message says national currency will be issued with the unit of one orel corresponding in value to one reichsmark. Czech banknotes will be withdrawn forthwith. It is understood that anti-Jewish legislation is being prepared to apply to those unbaptised before October 6, 1938. Others will be considered Aryans. A decree permits only lawyers resident in Slovakia before October 31, 1938, to practice at which the German party protested on the grounds that half" of its members would thereby be unqualified. MISUSED BY POWERS. German Interpretation Of Czech Feelings. "HAPPY FUTURE" ENVISAGED. (Received 2 p.m.) BERLIN", March 29. Baron von Xeurath. former Foreign Minister, in an article in the "European Review" describing the task as protector of Bohemia and Moravia, claims to understand the feelings of the Czech people after their fresh scars. He says thcv realise that they had been "unscrupulously misused by Powers who had no interest in seeing friendly Czecho-Germau relations, and appeals for co-operation in his efforts to promote a happier future. Dr. Hacha, in an article expressing faith in the Fuehrer's promise, says: •'There is a happy future for the Czech people if they behave loyally.*"
