P d SYDNEY, March 24. n On a rharge of having sent n malicious letter threatening to kill (ieorge Trc-! wceke, grazier, of Mosman, Leonard' I!a wson Wootton. 20. wool classer, was committed for trial this week. He was alleged to have sent the following letter, to Treweeke. signed "A. Death": — j "You think you are smart ot j ranging men to lose their jobs and wrecking young men's lives like my own; through overstraining, but one of you is well going to pay for wrecking my life. You won't be able to buy your way out with your gold. Blood is my payment, Treweeke. If you think you can toss me aside lick a spurious coin after ruining my life end health by overwork and strain, you've gut another think coming to you. First Human Target. "I've got my revenge to get back on I you and I'm going to get it if it costs ini' my life. Since joininsr the militia my markmanship has improved 100 per! cent, mid my first human target will. I hope, lie a Treweeke. If 1 can't drop one of voit at a range of .">OO yards. then I'm no soldier. You won't want to. wreck thi- lives of any more melt when I'm t hi'ough with you." In a statement to the police. Woollonj said that ill health and unemployment! hod induced him to write the letter "to endeavour to point out to Treweeke his. mistake in employing young inexperienced men on hard manual jobs.'' Hp said he er at any time had any real intention of injuring Treweeke. 1
