Only two .sales were made up to tlie close of the first call, compared willi 21 yesterday afternoon. A feature of the (lidding was a sharp advance in Ley land O'Briens on the aiiiionnceiuent of the return of part of tin- share capital. Buyers raised their oilers tu lfi/(i, and a seller came in at £1. 1 ><iiniiiion Breweries also improved with a market between £1 !) ; (j and £1 10/0. Generally the tone of the market was erratic. in the banking section quotations for t oinmercials between 15 10 and Hi/1. and for Xew Zealand* between £ L IS and CI 18/5. were below yesterday's levels. New South Wales. however, looked stronger between £2!) 10/ and £30 10,'. Among Australian indust rials sellers of Broken Hill Proprietaries lowered their reserves to £2 JB/0. with buyers unchanged .'id lower. British Tobaccos were also easier between £2 !)/3 and £2 10/0. but Electrolytic /Cine*, Colonial Sugars. (J. J. Coles and I.C.f. prefs. all had buyers at higher levels than yesterday. (loverninent securities were generally steady. Bank of New Zealand Easier. As the morning proceeded a few fresh orders came forward and were reflected in a moderate list of sales at the noon call. The easing trend noted at the first call for Bank of Xew Zealands was con-1 firmed in a sale 2d lower at 38/4. National ; Bank of Australasias were asked for at £13 .j/, and the contributing issue was I on oiler at £0 15/. Buyers for National Insurances dropped out leaving unsupDled sellers at l."i !). Dominion Breweries <ed easier with a market for the ordinaries between 20/(5 and 30/, while buyers for the prefs at .34/ dropped out.
