WORKMAN KILLED.
HEAVY FALL OF MANURE. DIED ON WAY TO HOSPITAL. Injuries from which he died before he could be admitted to hospital were suffered bv a middle-aged man, a worker in the chemical manure works of Kempthorne Prosser and Company. Ltd., at West field, when he was .buried undar several tons of the manure yesterday afternoon. He was: Mr! John Burgess, aged about 50, married, of Grove Road, Papakura. Mr. Burgess had been shovelling loose material close to the face of a stack of superphosphate when several tons rolled down from the stack and buried him. Other employees speedily uncovered him, but he had been severely crushed. He received medical attention and was taken to the Auckland Hospital in a §t. John ambulance, but died before the hospital was reached. An inquest was opened to-day before Mr. F. K. Hunt, coroner, and adjourned.
