DOWNARD STILL WINNING. In addition to a number of field events decided on Tuesday in connection with the Takapuna Grammar School's annual athletic championships, nearly 30 other events were got off yesterday, still leaving many more for "parents' day," this afternoon. In the senior jump on Tuesday, S. B. Downard made a special attempt on tue record of 19ft lOin, failing by 2Jln. In one of his attempts he leaped 20ft 9in, but took off three inches beyond the board, the Jump being disallowed. SATURDAY'S MEETING ON" THE NEW TRACK. On Saturday the new athletic ground at New Lynn, which includes a cinder track and a banked cycling track, will be officially opened. There ivill be a programme of athletics and cycling. The latter will be decided on the points system, and post entries will be received.
