MAL DE MER'S EFFORT. SILVER QUEX PLEASES. SEVERAL. HORSES SCHOOL. I . Conditions were ideal for training at Ellerslie this mo-ruin jr. when nil fast work was carried out on the No. 1 grass and tan tracks. I lie going on the former was hard and fast, and the best efforts on it were a round by Silver Quex and Mai do Mer, while British Talent, Bisquit (Peach Brandy—All Amber) and Tybalt pleased over shorter distances. No. I Grass. * Haputale (Gilchrist) ran home from the three-furlong post in 39 4-fw. It was his nrst fast work tor a long time, and lie shaped well. Wild Acre (Reams), after running -her first three furlongs in 41s, completed six in 1.20 1-5. It was a useful eftort, as ho carried a fair weight. First Gold Money strode over a round in 2.7. the last seven furlongs taking 1.44, and the final halt-mile 58s. She was going very easily throughout. British Talent (Messervy) reeled oil' half a mile in 50s. which _ was the best of the morning over the distance. Melvanui (Camei-on) and Valspear (Coon) completed seven furlongs in 1.31, the last half-mile taking 51s. Thev went from almost a stand, and it was a good trial. Silver Quex (Gilchrist) impressed white running a round in l.f>o 3-5. She completed the last mile in 1.47, six furlongs in 1.22, and the final half-mile in 53 l-ss. The novice Bisquit (R. Fearn) revealed promising speed over half a mile, which he traversed in 50 lsje. Bronze Wing (J. Buchanan) finished nip his work by running the last half-mile in 555. very comfortably, and Psychologist (Hale)
covered the tame ground in 53 2-ss. Tybalt (Gilchrist) was responsible for a good gallop over seven furlongs, which he completed in 1.30. He ran the last six furlongs in 1,17 2-5, and the final , half-mile in fil l-ss. Royal Message (Cameron) and Stonehaven (Gilchrist) completed half a mile in 52 2-ss. There was not much between them at the finish, and Stonehaven improved on his past efforts. The stablemates Mai de Mer (Bruce) and Salva (Simon)■'••■were associated over a round. Mai de Mer finished several lengths in front after running the distance in 1.56 1-5. ' The last six furlongs took 1.21 1-5, and the final half-mile 52 2-os. Captain Bruce (Cammiok) also did strong work over a round, but was not going better than 15s to the fuvlong. On the Tan. Kniglht of Australia (Clarke), after commencing slowly over a round, ran his last seven furlongs in 1.42 1-5, the final three taking 41 4-&g. Fleetwind (Gilchrist) and Trevace (Gemmell) showed plenty of dash while covering seven furlongs in 1.36, the last half mile in 53 4-os. It was a good trial as they went from almost a stand, and Fleetwind was in front at the finish. Full of Scotch (Fearn), after taking 40s for his first three furlongs, was not doing hi* best to complete six in 1.21 1-5. Marheke (Dulieu) was sent five furlongs, running the last half mile in 54 4-ss. Loyal Grant (Gemmell) and Aero Queen (Cammick) were given an easy half mile which occupied 58s. Tooley Street (Cameron) left five furlongs behind in 1.9 2-5. He increased the speed over the last half mile; whicih took 53 2-as. Vahnint (Messervy) and All- Irish (Cammick) strode over six furlongs in 1.34, taking 55 l-5s for their last half mile. Pasture (Nesbit) completed useful work by running her last three furlongs in 42 l-ss. She was going well within herself. ' Agog (Bruce) was sent' dver a round Which occupied 1.57. Topeotu (Tremain) came home with him over the last six furlongs in 1.24 2-5.-The last half mile was covered in 555, and Agog finished in front. Royal Appellant and Hawthorn were given strong work on this track but were not timed. r The Jumpers. Thrust (Fergus) , set out to scftiool over four hurdles, and jumped the first two in dashing style, but came to grief at the third and was not further persevered with. F. Fergus received injuries to his shoulder, but it is not anticipated they are serious. Black Marlin (Foster) gave a safe display over six hurdles in the centre. He has oome on a good deal during the last month gnd has not fbrgotten the way to jump. Jonathan (Foster) and Golden Spahi (R. Smith) were associated over the same fences, and made no mistakes.
