ROAD SAFETY.

DIPPING OF HEADLIGHTS. NEW REGULATIONS INTENDED. I .i (By Telegraph.—Press Association.) WELLINGTON, Wednesday. Several important recommendations from the Commissioner of Transport, Mr. G. L. Laurenson, will be discussed at a meeting of the Road Safety Council to-morrow. Items for discussion include: Compulsory dipping of headlights, safety glass for all cars, rear lights for bikes, blue lights for large lorries and trailers, new provisions as to pedestrian crossings and safety zones, new signs at intersections and general enforcement of trafficregulations. The council at its last meeting approved a report of the vehicle lighting sub-committee making certain recommendations concerning headlight adjustments and dipping of lights. These proposals wer<Sreferred to motor organisations, who concur with them, and the new requirements will be incorporated in the proposed amendments to the traffic regulations, which are to be reviewed this year.
