OFFENCE OF LOOTING.
SERIOUS, SAYS MAGISTRATE. (By Telegraph.—Press Association.) WELLINGTON, this day. "The offence of lootinjr, and that is practically what this charge means, is a serious one,"' said the magistrate, Mr. W. F. Stilwell, dealing "with the ease of a lad named Johanson on a charge of tlieft during Tuesday night's fire. He thought, however, that the Probation Officer's report justified him ia admitting Johanson to probation for IS months.
