STYLE PLEASES.

GIRL SPRINTER TRAINS.

STRAIGHT-BACK LEG STYLE.

Miss Norman, the Australian sprinter, under the eye of her manager, Mrs. Magee, trained to-day at Carlaw Park. She impressed a handful of spectators •by the smoothness of her style. It was noticeable that she used her body little and seemed to rely on her legs for speed, her body ' remaining absolutely motionless. Starting, she employed the straight-back leg style, which is seldom, if ever, seen in Auckland. The theory was, she explained, that when the gun sounded most athletes straightened out their back leg and sprang out of the holes. When the straight leg start was used less time was taken up, since the leg was already stiff. Miss Norman's first Auckland appearance will be at the Otahuhu Club's meeting on Thursday evening.
