NEW GROUND FOR WOMEN'S HOCKEY.
GILLIES AVENUE SITE.
REMUERA VACATED AFTER TWENTY-FIVE YEARS.
A decision to accept the new hockey grounds offered by the City Council at G-illiee Avenue was made at a special general meeting of the Auckland Women's Hockey Association last evening. There was a large gathering of delegates, member* of clubs and executive officers.
Mr. L. Kent, president of the association, in discussing the suitability of the grounds made a recommendation to the incoming executive that ground fees be reduced from 6d to 3d. Regret was expressed at leaving Remuera, the home of ladies' hockey for 25 years, but inore grounds at a low'-rental' rate Were essential to the association which desired to give girls a healthy and cheaper- sport. An amendment that 'ground be retained at Remuera was proposed and lost.
Miss P. Dawson, Miss L. Gick and Mrs. R. Hamlin were appointed to wait on the City "Conric'M with regard to the erection of temporary shelter for players at the new grounds. The president requested club secretaries to make every effort to be fully represented- at the forthcoming parade.- in. connection with : the national fitness movement to be held at Carlaw Park on February. 25. -
