The qualifying heats for two events in the New Zealand senior swimming championships were held this evening. Results:
One Mile Freestyle.—First heat: A. Pascoe, Auckland, 1; L. Newell, Canterburv, 2; J. Franks. Nelson, 3. Time. 24 18. Second heat: A. T. F. Stokes, Canterbury. 1: W. Johnston. Southland, 2; G. Usher, Wellington, 3. Time, 23.54 3-S.
220 Yards Breaststroke.—First heat: W Dy s on, Otagc. 1; K. Spry, Wellington, 2; L. Smith, Wanganui, 3. Time, 3.6 4-5 Second heat: J. C. W. Davies, Taracaki 1; K. Shaw, Southland. 2; H. Horafall Canterbury, 3. Time, 3.9 1-5.
After to-night there aro two more even ing carnivals—Thursday and Saturday.
MOUNT EOEN TO NIGHT.
Several club championships will be decided at the Mount Eden Amateur Swimns. Co"' 9 carnival, which will be held at Bellevue Road this evening. Diving contests and a water polo match between North Shore and Eastern Suburbs will be added attractions and an interesting evening's sport to assured.
The following team has been selected to represent the Mount Eden Club in the Auckland junior and intermediate relay championship, which will be held in conJunction with the carnival: —B. Cranch, K Rogers, J. Bell, J. Johansen, li. MeeVs w' Gribble.
