JACK TAR'S EFFORT,
Tlie outside grass, the reverse way round, was available at Takaniui this morning, and tlie going was in excellent order.
Bronze Trail was half a length in front of Silver Glow at the end of six furlongs in 1.18, both working well, King's Lancer taking the same time for a similar task. Brazilian and Pleuron showed dash over five furlongs, taking 1.4, the former having a shade the best of matters at the end. Mia Aci'ea traversed six furlongs in 1.18 3-i5, Princess Val and Gladynev being together at the end of half a mile in 51s. Dauber defeated bachelor King over five furlongs- in 1.3, Gamos sprinting three nicely in 38s. Jack Tar recorded the best six furlongs of the morning, traversing this distance in 1.16 3-5. Te Poto was not timed in a sprint on the plough, on which track Inver ran. five furlongs easily in 1.7 3-5. Our Jean covered half a mile in 545, Bon Star taking 56s and Royevrus 55 2-ss. and a sum of approximately £3000 more is being sought.
